Don't remember there being an inner sleeve like you show. I don't think thats stock but Iv'e been plenty wrong before. I think some replacement bushings came with an outer sleeve but may have been repurposed from another application. Regardless it should all come out to make room for a new bushing and inner sleeve.

Looks like that outer sleeve may be fused to the hanger. Heat and press out the bushing and inner sleeve with a vise and socket. You may have to slice the outer sleeve or get a small chisel in between the sleeve and hanger and pry out. Air hammer will make quick work of it if you have one.

You should have something like the second pic not the first.

Thanks. The first pic looks like what is in there to me. The second pic looks like the new bushings I have.

I used an air hammer to punch out the inner sleeve. I use a panel ripper insert in the air hammer and hook it on the tube and drive it out. On the outer tube i used the punch insert and collapse the outer tube towards the center and then switch to the panel riper blade to hook on the folded outer tube and drive it out.

I heated up the rubber and beat/pressed out the inner sleeve and rubber. I then used a sawzall to cut most of the way through the outer sleeve and used a chisel and punch to cut through/roll in what was left. There is a spot where the factory roll comes together where it is welded that gives a little working room.

Used an acetylene torch...heated the inner sleeve up then burned it out, took about 30 seconds for each hanger...no presses, no beating, no drilling, no cutting...just clean holes to insert the new poly into.

I had the same problem. I wouldn't spend the time trying to get them out because you are going to damage the integrity of the metal or shape! You can buy the entire shackle from JBG for $32 bucks a piece like I did!

Just replaced one of mine this weekend after I had to cut the shackle bolt out when I installed new 3 1/2" leaf springs. I did not have anyway to hear it up so what I did was put it in a vise. I then took my saw sall and cut I slit in the metal sleeve only then took a chisel and folded it in on itself. After some time of hammering it in on itself it loosened up and fell right out. Put the new bushing in with vise. Hope this helps.

Those come out easy....just cut thru the inner & outer sleeve. I think I used a sawzall years ago when I did mine....make sure you line up the sawzall blade with the void where the shackle is folded over and welded(that is about 7 o clock in picture 1 above). If you cut it there, there will be no damage to the ID of the shackle. Once the bushing is cut, they'll fold in and be easy to pound out.

cutting a slit with a hack saw or sawzall in the sleeve is the way I get them out.
