Remove Chrome??

I have some chrome bumprs I want to paint and some day powder coat. Can I just rough up the chrome or do I need to take it in to get it removed?

do most poweder coat guys sandblast things or would I have to take it to two places?

The good ones do...I've run into some smaller PC shops (really just guys with tools & a garage) that don't have the equipment to blast or clean parts. They might be cheaper on the coating, but it's up to the customer to make sure everything's clean & ready. Check with whomever is going to do the coating to be sure.
