I know this is a super simple task, but just looking for some tips to ensure I do it correctly. Does anyone have any tips on how to install a new steering stabilizer? I don't want to turn this into a discussion or "do you need one" as I am committed to replacing the stock stabilizer, it came on it from the factory, so there is must stay :) Thank you!

Not much to it. I put an extra nut on both ends of mine to serve as locknuts. It also has a boot which I don’t think they originally had.

Thanks, Slowleak! I looked at the shop manual and saw this view as well. How did you get yours off? Mine is "extended" right now with the wheels straight. Do you turn the wheel to compress the shock to remove it?

Turn the wheel to compress it, take off one or both, of the nuts, then turn the wheel the other way and it will come right out....

Mounting ..,,, make sure you have full wheel stop to wheel stop movement. So yes you should see extension ( around half ) when the wheels are straight. How I have always mounted them is jack front up. Turn wheels all the way to passengers side compress all the way in then pull it back out 1 in. Snug down. Now turn all the way the other direction, make sure you can go all the way to wheel stop again. Check for any binding or clearance issues.

I just installed a replacement from Wild Horses and the diameter of the tube was larger than what I took off. Fortunately it works but it did rub on my winch plate at the extreme right turn position (I believe it was right turn but can't remember for sure).

Steering stabilizer

My steering stabilizer was sitting at way too much of a bad angle after the lift install. So,we fixed that problem by building a lower support to help " Level" the stabilizer some.;)
