Restoration question on engine tag

On the left side valve cover, at the front, was a factory paper decal/sticker with a code indicating the engine type and change level that was originally installed in my Bronco. Some of these paper tags are being reproduced, particularly in the Mustang world, and I'd like to replace the one that is missing from my truck.

On a BOSS 302, for example, it would have been "299" or "300". The chart I found shows several possibilities - 271 through 282, 285, 286, 288, 293 and 296.

Can anyone tell me what the code was for a 69 302 2bbl?

Originally a CA truck, or 49-state? Would possibly make a difference in the calibration codes if they're on that decal.
A whole crap-ton of those different ones. Maybe not in '69 though, so hopefully you'll get lucky in that regard.

Originally a Colorado truck, so 49-state.

I found a listing online, but can't figure out the proper one for a '69 Bronco. There are a number of codes for the 302 2bbl.

Does anyone out there have a low-mileage truck with a 302 that still has the paper tag that's readable?

This same number is also found on the aluminum engine tag commonly attached to the coil bracket. The 3-digit code appears in the middle of the second line of data.

Anyone out there with a '69 302 that still has the coil tag intact?

Back to the top.....

Does anyone have their Bronco's original aluminum coil tag or the paper tag attached to the drivers-side valve cover?

I'm looking for a '69 302 manual tranny version, but would be interested to see what your tags read regardless of drivetrain.

I have a 75 302 and looking down on the coil bracket I don't see a tag. Do you have to remove the coil and bracket to see it or should it be visible looking under the hood?

You should be able to see the tag without removing the coil. It's likely that yours was removed at some point in the past.

I have the valve cover paper label , 1975, FK371AA but I can't find it in any of the tag charts supplied by 69_Sport. Any ideas.

Did all years of EB's have the little metal tag under the coil???;D;D;D

Yep, all Fords from that era had one when new. They (along with the carb tag) get tossed the first time service is performed. Not uncommon for them to be missing.

Still trying to figure out the proper engine code for my truck.

I ordered the Marti Report and repro carb and engine tags. The Report showed up, but still waiting on the tags. As shown in one of the above posts, the engine change code shows up on the bottom line of the aluminum engine ID tag and should be the same as the paper tag on the drivers's side valve cover. I'm interested in seeing what Marti comes up with for a tag when they recreate mine.
