Restoring underside??

I have seen several options for a rotisserie, but was wondering if anyone has come up with a way to just get the body flipped over onto saw horses. I was able to do this on an old CJ7 but the Bronco is a bit heaver and has the front inner fenders and rad support. I have the body on a nice roller that is attached to all 8 body mount locations whichworks great for the "topside" body work. But there is a lot of undercoating and a ton of cleanup required before it can be painted. Any ideas? Is building a rotisserie the only option?

I've seen fixtures that bolt on to wheel hubs and allow you to gebtly roll a vehicle over onto it's side.

I've got a 2 post lift, I just set the arms under the rockers, and use a 4x4 on each side to spread the load. Lift straight up and roll the chassis out. Plenty of room to wal under and get to everything that way.

You can do it the redneck way!!! Most folks use an old mattress, I used bales of pine straw, my shop crane and 2 anchor points ( another EB and my truck)!!!
Took it off the frame and flipped it on to the little HF trailer with some wood supports!!!

Hey Torkman, take note of the 2nd and 4th pic, I have angle iron on the bed, side to side and to the cowling and I have 2"x 6" rock skis welded in to where the rockers use to be!!
So I was not worried about flex!!!

I have steel tubing connectiong the qrtrs with the front door hinges. The cross beam is welded in and is at the exact place so a single point lift balances the body.

I’ve seen a setup on here where someone used a sheet of plywood to cut out two half circles. Bolted to the ends, IIR, used some lumber bolted to the frame to bolt the plywood to. Then would need a piece of 2x4 to stop it rolling too far over. Thinking it might be the way I go. The other way I’ve seen is to use two engine stands, but would cost more.

I followed the lead of a few members here and built a wooden body cart that can be rotated 90 deg to access the underside. It works great.

Wow, that is a nice setup. While I'm hoping I do not need to replace too much metal, I know I will be replacing floors and rockers. We shall see. I was able to get it turned on its side without issue. I can take it all the way upside down but for now all I need to do is to get the undercoating off before it goes to the sandblaster. When I get it back, I'll turn it all the way upside down to paint epoxy primer and then start all the metal repair. One more turn over when ready to put a finish on the bottom (not sure what yet).

I built a very sturdy frame out of square steel then welded on arms that go down the sides of body and hang below about six inches on one side. Since I have a ceiling lift (you could use an engine puller) I simply picked up by the external frame I made from one side and it turned it up on its side resting on the arms to protect the body. Pretty easy, but took so head scratching and a combination of all your ideas to get it done.

That is quite the set of manuevers! As a guy who does all of this work by himself I applaud the ingenuity!
