Reusing master cylinder pushrods

I've done some reading of posts online, but I'm not entirely sure I've got it right. I've got a new master cylinder (disc brake upgrade) and removed the pushrod and piston. Do I just muscle the pushrod out to the piston too?

You can yank it out of that piston.
A little clip holds it in there, you may even be able to re-use it.
I didn't re-use mine. It seems to stay in there fine.
Typically the manual mc's have a deeper cavity for the rod to sit in than a power mc. This may be why mine didn't seem to need the clip to keep the rod in place.

Well..,,,you could maybe slip in a couple really skinny screw drivers, but I have always just yanked them out and rebent the clip.

Apparently I need a lowland gorilla to accomplish this. Or leverage. I'll keep trying.

Clamp the end in a vise. Take either a large pair of pliers or vise grip and place loosely around rod by the piston. Take a hammer and hit the pliers against the piston.
