Rock lights

I tried searching for this but was not able to find anything. Last year at a Bronco event I saw several rigs with rock lights and I would like to put some on my '74. I saw a thread from sneveysoffroad , think there a sponsor (not sure) but anyone have these installed on their Bronco? What do you have on your Bronco and how many lights are recommended? I have seen several options from Amzn , anyone buy from here? Would like to see photos of mounting location and lights on if you have them.

I know nothing good is cheap and nothing cheap is good, with that said I am on a budget. How much was your setup , and now after would you buy the same ones again or would you go with a different brand?

Thank you in advance for your time/help,

Sonny

I installed these in late 2018 and they still work great and they are cheap so when you blow one out with a rock, you pop another one in.

Installed two in each wheel well at angles so I have some front and back coverage and two along the frame on each side on brackets I made.

Just please don't get the ones that change to all kinds of crazy colors and flash to your tunes. ;-)

My cousin has the KC setup on his j**p, AWESOME setup but not within my budget. That's why I am hoping there are members on here that have purchased rock lights on amzn or some other place that are less. I would also like to know if they are happy or wish they went a different route .

Thanks for the reply Ol'Blue. Does it just come with lights or do they come with wires and a switch? It looks like the inner fender lights are pointed at each other and not really facing down, is that right? What kind of bracket did you use?

I was reading somewhere it recommended to wire the lights separately so you do not draw extra amps and if one light were to go out the others would still work. I hope I explained that right, anyone know what I am talking about and would you be able to explain it to someone with very minimal electrical?

TSC (Tractor Supply Company) LED work lights bracket mounted. And you can buy the complete wiring harness w/switch at the same place. Battery and ground connection and done. Nothing fancy and kinda getto, but works for me.

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-18w-round-worklight?cm_vc=-10005

They have other options for LED lights and decent prices.

Not sure who's Bronco this is in the last pic, but he has a very nice rock lights set up. Mounted higher up puts more light out and around the tire.

Just the lights and they are mounted on the 45* part of the wells, not pointing directly down. I just bought some small sheet metal angle bracket for wood framing at home depot and painted them black for the frame mounts ones. They are daisy chained (I think that the right term) and all wire together to one switch. The LEDs don't draw much at all.

]So, I looked up the lights Ol'Blue recommended, I am looking for electrical advice , they said items also purchased was a relay and wiring harness. I cant figure out how to attach photos (I dont see a add option, I am a contributor) , is there a certain amp or gauge wire harness i should get? Is installation pretty straight forward (do you just run a wire from light to light and after the last light gets connected to the relay and harness?

In the "write your reply" window there is a "drop image" icon. It's in the red circle in the screenshot below. It will open a dropdown that says "drop image or click here". Click it & it lets you choose between taking a new pic or go to some existing files.

Easiest for me is to click "files", then from the hamburger menu on the top left select "gallery". From there my pics are easy to find in a format that I'm familiar with.

If your "drop image" icon doesn't work, try clicking on the 3 dot drop down in the blue circle. Then click on the square brackets in the yellow circle. That bracket icon toggles a lot of features on & off.

I don't see contributor on under your username? Perhaps it has expired?

Good point.
@FORD*DIEHARD If you click on your avatatar at the center of the top of the page, then click on "Account Upgrades", it should show you your contributor info.

I have been thinking about that all day. Now it all makes sense! Just got home and the last post reminded me, it had to of just expired. All right, I am all paid up now, let's try it again. So when I look up the lights it shows usually bought together and has a switch, relay and wire harness. Not sure if you connect each light separately to the harness or if you can just connect the lights together and just put a single relay /fuse with the switch? So here are the items;

I have used several of the Amazon rock lights for different projects and none ended up in the wheel well.
Kids Subaru Outback was lacking in the light department. Mounted 2 on the rear panel below the rear window, they come on when the hatch is lifted.
3D printed some brackets for mounting 2 under the hood of my Bronco, not installed yet.
Mounted 2 under the hood of my F150 with a cowl mounted switch.
3D printed some brackets for interior lights in the Bronco, 2 front, 4 rear. Wife said I used too many.
Mounted some under each end of the dash on a Yota Hilux project.

*PROJECT UPDATE-
I ended up going with the lights Ol'Blue had installed. I am very happy with Ol'Blues recommendation. Here is MY GURL with her new rock lights. So I ended up installing a total of (10) lights. (04) on each side - circled on the sideview , (01) front center and (01) rear center . I also ended up installing (04) lights in the cab.
