Tom's Rocker Rappers are a solid choice. I am running a set of 1/4 SS ones he made and they are beefy. I installed them using SS rivet nuts. I have Line-X on the rockers, which acts as a "gasket" for the rocker from grit and moisture. I also used a strip of the sticky backed foam near the top of the outer rapper which prevents additional crap from getting down in between the rapper and the rocker; it also serves as anti-rattle and paint protection for the front fender.

When I installed these, I was in a big push for my CO trip, so I didnt get any pics. I dont have any closeup pics, but here is one at our first night camping after we got into CO and out of CO Springs.

I would like to add some SS tube to these down the road...then I will PC them flat-black to match the rest of the trim. For now, its 3 coats of Rustoleum Industrial flat black--which is almost a perfect match for my PCed trim. Down the road, if they scratch, no biggie...she wont bleed.

As well, I have seen in person the Duff's sliders; the 1/4" ones with tube were very impressive. If I hadnt had the RRs already on the shelf from a parts swap I did with Tom a few years ago, I would have been willing to invest the $ on the Duff's ones. They are impressive. However, their design is very similar to the BCB ones. Their mounting kit is totally different...Duff's mounting kit is where I got the idea to use riv-nuts for my Rocker Rappers.

Good luck with your choices.

OOPS, the photo I have is too big and I cant resize it at work...I will try to get to it later. Sorry.

Mine are 1/4" Rock Skis from BC Broncos. Had a buddy of mine fab some nerf bars and voila!! Best part is you never have to worry about your rocker panels again.

Are these "Tom's Rocker Rappers are a solid choice" from Tom's Bronco in Oregon? Are those the ones you are referring to? ;D

I used Tom's with slight modification.

http://gallery.me.com/edpratt#100031/P1010060&bgcolor=black

Used a counter sink bit in drill press to install with flush mount flat head socket bolts (5 inch) and body washers on the back side of the rocker panel. Solid mount with better surface area to hold any weight on them. You will have to cut any excess bolt off on the driver side to avoid the aux tank.

Used flare welting on painted side of rocker panels to prevent rub. Flares are mounted over the top and screwed into the rock ski.

I replaced the door pillar with .25 thick angle iron and tied the rocker into it as well as the frame. Everything is .25 wall and fully welded and bolted with .25 backing plates.

Mine kinda got involved with some rust repair - but it sure it solid...

No, I keep forgetting not everyone is in the "know". Tom Carper is TheBroncoRanch aka Broncolove aka a solid choice for someone to contact about the Rocker Rappers. Try doing a search on "Rocker Rappers" and Rocker Wrappers"...you should get a few hits. TheBroncoRanch is NOT affiliated with Tom's Bronco Parts. He is a good guy. A Bronco fanatic to the Nth degree, a scholar and a gentleman.

Good luck, Matt.

i just made a set out of 6x2x3/16 cut the rocker and welded outer seam all the way then cut the inner part bout 1" above slider then welded about 2" strips every 6".i also welded a 1/4 nipple to the inside of the rockslider with the threads sticking in under the body so i can fill them with air like a airtank.i did a air/leak test and thay bolth hold 100 pounds so i have 200 pounds in the sliders/tanks then i plan on plumbing them into the cab with a tee so one side of the tee will have a npt fitting to conect a 15' air line and the other will have a gadge that you get at a plumbing supply that also has a air stem built into it to refill the tanks.so by the time its all plumbed i should have 250 pounds of air.but the plumbing will be at a later time.pic to come

These are modified BC Rock Skis. They are also tied to the frame underneath for strength.
