Seam Sealer Question

Based on what I have read, you paint and then seal. I'm working on my front clip right now and am just about ready to POR-15 the firewall, inner fendors, kick panels, and core support. I plan on using the POR-15 seam sealer. It woiuld seem easier to me to seal the seams first, then paint, because you can better see where the sealer is going. Why am I wrong?

I often wondered about that? But I guess it really makes no difference. The factory putty on the ones I have seen seem like they were painted over anyway.
