returning from another 12 hours in the seat of my s#ittybuilt seats and can't get comfy. what factory seats like Subaru Honda etc has anyone found that are low profile enough to see out the windshield and still use adjustable tracks? I know prp and procar and so on but would like to go to the wrecking yard to see what fits me.

I put a set of Fox body Mustang seats in mine. Swapped the drivers seat bracket from a Bronco with the Mustang seat (had to drill a few holes in the mount or seat - can't remember) but mounted with the original holes in floor. Passenger seat was an easy swap, too.

I am ~ 6' tall and the Explorer seats I had installed had me looking through the top of the windshield frame. With these seats, I look through the windshield. They have lumbar control and they sit low.

Can't remember the range of years with this style (saw some on ebay, before writing this).

Can't upload photos, as my POS laptop is acting up (can't print from it, either). If you need photos, PM me and I will try from the desk top.

I'm running the '91 Mustang GT seats in mine, but I definitely look out of the windshield closer to the top. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's as high as I'd want to go. I'd actually like to lower the floor in fact, but it hasn't been a priority yet.

Regarding the new holes in the seats, maybe Pops experience was the same, but there are already some dimples where you need to drill them to fit the factory Bronco sliders. Probably Ford has kept the same bolt patterns in vehicles for all these years, with slight variations. They were ready to drill and tap, and away you go.

I did end up moving mine rearward about 3" or so with new holes in the floor. Definitely needed it when compared to the relatively neutral seating position with the originals.

The big difference though, is that I can spend all day in these seats and still be happy I'm driving an EB!
The originals were only good for about 45 minutes for me. After that the rest of the trip was fidget-city looking for a good position.

Good luck in the hunt.

Not factory seats, but I put Mastercraft seats in mine. It took a little effort to get the seat to attach to the stock Bronco driver's side slider, but it worked out in the end. I'm 6' tall and I'm looking through the windshield about 4" from the top, which I think is about perfect. I spend almost all of my driving time in either a '97 F-250HD or the Bronco, and I like that I sit up high in both. And if my eyes were any lower the already horrible visibility over the hood would be even worse (about the only thing I miss from my J**p days).

I've been very happy with the comfort of the Mastercrafts. My longest day in them was 450 miles, and at the end of that I got in the F-250 and did another 450. I was tired out after a 900 mile day, but I wasn't sore.

edit: this is the best picture I currently have on-line. It shows the back seats more than the front, but the fronts are there too.

Granted my long distance time in stock EB seats was in my younger days, but I always found them to be comfortable. Any thoughts of stepping back into stock seats in lieu of aftermarket?

The farthest I ever drove in stock seats was TN to Toronto Canada round trip. (Side note...going up I spotted a fellow EB driver mid-span on Ambassador Bridge in Detroit. Only EB I saw the whole trip, and we were waving /grinning like idiots as we each enter another country.)

I still run the original stock seats in mine. They've had the cushions replaced when they were recovered. I can sit in them on 12 hour trail day's or on the highway for hours at a time. I've even had other Bronco owners complement me on how comfortable they are... If I were to put any other seat in my rig it would be Recarro's out of a European import or Mastercraft personally

Craigslist find 1989 Mustang Gt seats.
Easy swap.
Used Bronco sliders on the Mustang seats and drilled 1 hole to attach everything.

I run Mitsubishi eclipse/Plymouth laser seats in both my broncos. I think maybe late 90s. Come with floor sliders, pretty adjustable and driver side lumbar support. They sit lower than the stock seats. I just bolted down their existing sliders. Got all of em cheap at the boneyard

If you are tall or have a long torso avoid power seats at the junkyard, because of the motor being under the bottom of the seat they will always be higher than a non-power seat.
