Serpentine Pulley Kit

So I’ve completely rebuilt the 302 in the Bronco I purchased a few months ago. I am at the point to where I can either clean up all the front accessory stuff(which is badly corroded and I wanna throw it away) or I can try to find a serpentine kit for alt, wp, ps and crank. I’ve been staring at the march perf. Kits and wanna know if anybody has had any issues w/ frame rail clearance on the alternator? I would splurge on the Saginaw keyway pump. Kit would be black b/c I am not a chrome/polished guy. Any advice on where else to look? March kit p/n is 30172-08. It’s similar to what is for sale on wildhorses site but in black. Also on the fence about going electric wp in which the make a kit for also and it’s p/n is 30075-08.

Anybody with other kits or experience with March?

Before you buy that take a serious look at the 5.0 Explorer serpentine system.
You could clean one up and have it powder coated any color you want and still have less money in it.
The Explorer set-up has the best fan to radiator clearance and a very good fan.

Thanks for the idea. I’ve heard about them thru other readings. The next hurdle is to decide on a mech. fan or electric. Guess that needs to be all in 1 decision now

Yes and no. You can always go electric later if you really want to, but it's a personal decision at that point because the mechanical Explorer fan is not going to lack in cooling ability.
I don't remember ever hearing of anyone that is using the Explorer setup that has a cooling issue.
Heck, there are several members running the Explorer V6 radiator to cool their 351's and having great luck there too!

But the other benefit of that drive system, like was said, is that the extra clearance might allow for a more powerful electric fan.
It takes a pretty beefy fan, capable of pulling a lot of air, to keep a Bronco cool when it does not want to be cool.

For your earlier question, there are actually a few members using the March and CVF (or CVR?) systems these days I think. It's a more recent development because in the past you would not find one of us cheapskates using an accessory drive system that cost almost as much as the Bronco did!
So historically speaking, there is not a lot of experience with them. But as you know, more and more people are putting the cool toys on their Broncos nowadays, so you might get some good info.
A thread from just the other day (I want to say maybe three days ago now?) showed a couple of systems put on EB's. Unfortunately one was still in the build stage, so there was no way yet to know what the clearance factor was going to be. Not until the body and radiator go on, unless they take some measurements from the front of the engine.

I didn't see anyone discussing that dimension (although it was asked) and I think the thread stopped there.
Maybe if you bring it back up they can do some measuring.

Bottom line though, is just like was said. The Explorer stuff is just about as short as you're ever likely to find for the front of a Windsor family engine.

Good luck.

If you go Explorer setup just use the Mech fan. It works perfect, is cheap, and requires no extra wiring!

I have the march perform setup on my 331 in my green bronco. It is a fine dance to find the right fan spacer to get clearance on the fan hitting the pulleys and not being to far towards the radiator if you have a thicker aftermarket rad as i have. I am gonna take it all off and put the explorer setup on mine. It is sitting in a box I got from sannman3. Its just waiting on me to do it. I went to march setup because of the squealing belt issue because of my 200 amp alternator that i put on. Wish i had done the explorer setup from the beginning. Also didnt need 200 amp alt...
The March setup and alt will all be for sale here within the month..

Not sure of the manufacturer but jbg sells a kit that seems cheaper than what I've seen the Purdy setups go for.

American Billet has a complete front runner system that I'm installing on a Bronco build for a doctor. It's not cheap but it looks really nice. Had to modify the front inner grill to move the radiator forward. I'll post up some pictures after it's completed... plus completely made in the USA!!

Thanks for the info fellas! I decided to go electric pump and fan. Ordered pump yesterday. The sniper efi has an output for fan control and I’ll tie my pump into ignition to “on” position. Will most likely also run individual power from rocker switch panel to these items in case I want to cool the motor down quicker than ambient condition could. I may either purchase new normal bronco brackets for ps and alt and run dual v belt setup again before splurging on the $630 electric pump setup from March. I’ll check these other vendors mentioned just in case I find something I can’t live w/o for some time. I intend to pull this 302 in the next 3-4 years while I accrue all the stuff for a 4bt conversion... so that should factor in or somebody might get a killer deal on complete package when the conversion day comes around!

Not to highjack your thread. Im curious I currently don't have power steering. Does someone make a p/s delete and a/c delete for the explorer setup?

I don't know, but you might just see if a shorter belt would let you simply remove the two components and just run a short belt. You can on some setups, while on others you need idler pulleys to get the job done.
You mainly need (I believe) the A/C Delete setups so that you can continue to run the power steering pump on some serp setups.
But without anything on the driver's side at all, a "delete kit" type of thing might just be unnecessary.

One way to find out!

I think you could use the a.c. delete pulley (about 95% sure) and not need the p.s. pump. Just have to get the right length belt...

I have serp set ups and delete pulleys if interested... ;)
