This is great stuff! I hate to admit it but I've done some of the things mentioned here. :-[ I fixed a lot of things "cheaply" when I first bought my 76 because I didn't have much money. Fixed the floorboards by riveting sheets of metal here and there to cover the holes. Bondo'd the heck out of the body. Threw a lil' Bondo on the dash pad to fix the tears. I even did the fiberglass fix on the inner rear fender wells where there was a pretty wide gap from the rust. Interesting stuff that I've found from the PO:

Plywood passenger floorboard
Ratchet strap holding gas tank on
Heavy weld beads on the door posts (hard to shut the passenger door)
Upper and lower rear fenders fused together
2x4 body mounts

It's been great fun fixing and re-fixing things. Can't wait to take on the next project.

Wow, that is a great collection of how-not-to's! It is a good example of how to kill someone or get killed trying!

you can buy the whole truck off us. we're getting it running to sell as an OFF ROAD vehicle. the idiot PO built it as a rock crawler. i tried to get scott to part it out, i was going to buy the C5 (yes i spelled that right, C5) tranny out of it.

The original window sticker and all the original registration in the dash. Also, the owners manual. It is a 1975 Ranger.

I just saw this. You guys are way too picky. A lot of this stuff was recommended in off road magazines in the 70's. :0

My Bronco had an entire 12 ga floor (whole floor) installed over the top of the old floor. Lots of trapped mud to rust out all the work.

A homemade NP435 adapter made by welding three pieces of 1 inch thick steel plate to a V-8 intermediate housing. They didn't think about how to keep it from leaking.

Three inch tall boat roller body lift. You could shake the body on the frame. Still have the rollers if someone wants them.

This was pretty minor but I thought I would share anyway...When I bought my Bronco the PO said the fule gauge selector switch didn't work. It would only work when set towards the main tank. After a little looking around I found that the wire going from the Aux tank to the selector switch was between the cross member and the mounting bracket..pinched in half and shorted out. Yellow wire in the Picture.White wire is the new one.

Today I found about a dozen shell casings stuffed in some kind of rubber grommet that comes off the firewall. Its like a grommet that I think is used to run wires through. Very weird.
