Several posts have offered some ideas on this but wanted to see if there are any new ideas.
Definitely need a step but don't want the full nerf bar like Toms offers, just a small step like this one:

Thinking I could mod something to attach to the frame. Anybody try this yet? Ideas?

@Howard2x4x4 wow, great timing! Few questions.
1. The inner rocker is somewhat thin, no concern about it holding the weight without distorting or bending inner rocker?
2. Did you use nut serts for the bolts into inner rocker face?
3. I have the aux tank and do not have access to the inner rocker on the drivers side. May need to build something that attaches to the frame…thoughts?

1. Yes, it is somewhat thin. That is why I sought to spread the load over a wider and taller area. If you look closely, you'll see that 3 of the 4 rectangular mounting brackets are as long as was possible. Everything was done using the SWAG (scientific, wild-ass guess) method and somewhat experimental. Once mounted, I found they were plenty strong for me, and I go aabout 230# of blubbery muscle and squishy brain soaking wet. 2. No. I used 1/4" steel blind rivets, 4 per bracket, 8 per side. Do the ciphering, and that equates to less than 30# per rivet, which at first blush would seem a bit 'iffy', but all of the stress is in shear, with little or no twisting or pulling force. 3. If you have 1" of space between the inner rocker and the spare tank, it should be enough. The tough part may be installing the bracket with the spare tank in place. Good luck, I hope this helps. Seen a step like that at 4Wheelonline that is thicker. For trucks though
