Source of oil residue

I get a lot of oil residue buildup on the hose that runs from my PCV valve to my Edelbrock carb. It’s like a fine mist keeps getting sprayed on that hose. It doesn’t look too bad in the picture, because I cleaned it off thoroughly about two drives ago, but it’s already starting to build back up. Both ends of the hose are secured with hose clamps. The PCV valve seems to fit very securely inside the valve cover grommet, and the valve cover grommet is the one that came with the valve covers, so I know that fit is good.

Any ideas what could be causing that?

If you are absolutely positive it is nowhere else? My first thought was coolant but if it is on nothing else, replace the hose, it is sweating from the inside, have seen it before. Typically it is from grabbing a coolant rated hose and using it on the PCV system. Oil attacks the hose and makes it sweat.

That’s what I thought might be the case, but never heard of a hose sweating from inside.

I swapped it for a PCV/Emissions rated hose and we’ll see if that fixes the issue. Thanks!

I would look carefully at the (white) paper towel when I wiped the hose. Kinda looks like PS/ATF (but can't see the color in small drops) or brake fluid.

On shut down the hot engine puts out hot vapors that rise and if that is a vacuum hose not rated for oil it can sweat like that.
