So, I got a nick in one of my rear axle shafts on my '66. I can't find any definitive info or part number for this application. Took the shaft to napa and they couldn't help either. Does anyone know of the part number for a sleeve for this application? The micrometer reading I got on that surface was 1.366" and the speedi sleeve 99149 specs are:
Shaft diameter, minimum1.497 in
Shaft diameter, maximum1.503 in
The nick is too long to try and use the double seal trick etc...
Thank you,
David

Bummer...and that is why I score and then chisel off my axle retainers. I think you're going to need/want a new/used axle.

In reviewing the SKF Speedi-Sleeve catalog, there's a distinct lack of products in that particular size. They have Ø34mm [Ø1.339"], and then it jumps up to Ø1.375 [Ø34.93"], with nothing in between.

I was scoring and chiseling and the grinder jumped on me. Oh well, I think you're right in your assessment as far as a replacement axle. I appreciate your reply and looking into the speedi sleeve offerings. Have a great weekend!

An old timer showed me to center punch the retainer then drill half way through it with a drill bit the same width as the retainer. The hit it at the drill spot with a chisel. They pop as in split every time and just slip right off.
