Speedometer needle issue

The speedo went to bouncing and whirling one cold morning this winter, then kind of sprung loose. The needle seems to be hanging down loosely on some sort of metal spring deal.

Did the cable break? Anybody?;D

Sounds like the cable broke to me.....or the "head unit" could ahve come out of the back of the gauge (it just clips in) or it might have come loose at the T-case.

My bet is the cable snapped......
