Looks fantastic. I was drawing up designs with wood on the face, but this is really sharp.

Something like this, Also the problem with wood face is most gauges are designed for a thin mounting surface. If you wood is too thick the gauge mount will not work. Lots of recess work to get the mounts to work.

That's quite a list of questions that we've not given any thought to yet. :p

Wow, I guess I got time. You may get what you get. pressure treated or otherwise.

Where I come from, pressure treated is "finished wood". Due to its cost, we can only afford to use it in places like kitchen and bathroom trim...
although I built a killer entertainment center out of pressure treated that was left over from the neighbor's deck build.;D

Bax, very nice. I'm liking what you've done with the stainless as much or more than the wood. Did you weld the corners?

Yes the corners are all welded. I did not weld it. The welder did a super job. I like the stainless better too.

And he polishes his own wood!

Nice job Roger. What truck is that going into? Not the turquoise one I hope, I still want that one!

The turquoise truck is gone. Nick got it and from what I understand it is almost done. That really was a nice truck. I may not find another like it. But I will soon be looking for another.

Well...yeah...of course. And pallet wood.

You would be amazed the variety of exotic woods that are used in packing crates too.

If that is what you are gonna use for the house warming gift, I can donate the wood. I'm thinking the possibilities with blown down chewed up from the dogs fence wood is endless.

Was going to use a veneer. it's only 20 mils thick. A wood working buddy told me I could attach it with glue, but we need to run a test on gluing it to metal since you should really glue it to other wood. But yeah, using a regular piece of wood is going to make mounting the gauges tough. Yours looks cool!

The key word is "character". The other key word is "re-purposing".
