Starter not turning

Turn key to start, solenoid clicks. Voltmeter shows 12.4 at solenoid, and connection to solenoid. With key to start, 12.4 volts at cable to starter. Installed spare solenoid, same results. Bad starter? ‘67 bronco, original wires, 1969 351w with c4. Nothing was changed to cause any electrical or starting problems. Everything worked fine two days ago. Both the I and S wires are connected to the respective terminals.

I’m with Brush Hog on this one. Testing the voltage alone doesn’t help much. You can have the voltage but not the amps. A bad negative battery cable gave me the exact same symptoms. Check the cable where it connects to the block. They can also fail internally and look fine.

Thanks, banged with hammer and started right up.
That's a quick fix to get you home. Replace the starter asap. No telling how many times the hammer will work before the starter flat out dies. Also if it's one of those lifetime warranted starters from the auto zone type stores go to napa.and buy a better one. That is unless you like changing your starter every 6-8months

Just a stock replacement for the bronco but ask for one of the better ones. They started offering a crap line to compete with the chain stores.
