Stereo Slot in Tuffy Deluxe Center Console

Since the WH Lock and Load console is no longer available, I’m seriously considering Tuffy’s Deluxe console with the stereo slot. Tuffy’s regular console is just too big for my liking.

Anyway, I’m not planning on installing my stereo in the console so I’m wondering if the stereo slot can be used as storage or something else?

You could use it, but it's kind of tight and awkward because it's at an angle. If you want the lock and load console, I would just buy a Tuffy used, add one of the switch/USB panels from Amazon, and make a little tray insert for the top. From what I can see, that's pretty much what the lock and load is (plus the strut for the lid)

Making a tray to cover the stereo slot could work. Tuffy sells a strut and combo lock as well. The coolest feature of the Lock and Load is the hidden drawer under the console.

Ahhh I didn't know about that. Kind of a cool feature. At least you won't lose that space with the Tuffy, just the access.
There was a Tuffy in mine when I got it and I refurbed it and added a fuse block and small amp (amp in the area for the head unit). Did well for me.
Not sure where you are but I saw a Tuffy near me in MA for sale for 100 bucks.

Going to be using that space by installing a plate and mounting switches there
