Sudden Rough Idle

All of a sudden this afternoon, when I started my engine the idle was really rough. It seems like a cylinder or two is down. Plus, the exhaust smells rich and gas is not getting burnt. I checked the distributor and that was not the problem. The engine was hot so I could not check the plug wires, but will do so in the morning. I was thinking of replacing the plugs all around since they are at least four years old. But I wanted to get any input on what else this could be?

Many thanks,

I just had my choke pull-off vacuum motor develop a big vacuum leak, killing my engine at idle. Replacement was easy, but it was naturally the last thing I checked, as it was kind of out of sight and so out of mind.

I don't have enough experience yet to say a new vacuum leak (with lean-misfire symptoms) could be your case, but thought I would share just in case.
