I have a suggestion, not just for the forums, yet also for the whole ClassicBroncos site in general.

Coming from another car forum with a tight knit community such as this, they had an aspect of their website that I thought might prove to be an incredibly useful tool for this Early Bronco community.

Here is an example of what I would like to see here: http://www.miata.net/products/

The product review section is composed entirely of members who have used the products with sucess or failure.

I think something like this would help to:
1. Clear up the many forum posts asking for product reviews, thus helping to reduce bandwith.
2. Give users an ongoing forum for research and reviews on products.

I do not know who to pitch this idea to specifically, yet I was hoping by making the idea public on the forum that it could get the ball rolling.

Thank you,
Joshua.

I think it would be a great idea, but I see where it could get out of control too. I'm sure it would be pretty well excepted though

It is a good idea. I prefer the way it is now, myself. I've seen some threads where someone stated an opinion, and someone else disagreed with it. They go back and forth on it for a few posts, and I get more details than I would have with a straight review.

I wouldn't mind a review section, as long as we don't mess up what we've got now.

That would be me. :)

This is actually something I've had on my to-do list for a while. There are a couple things that have kept me from looking into it seriously. Mostly it's finding the time. Software needs to be purchased, installed, customized and then maintained each day. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the tech articles sometimes, not to mention working on my Bronco. :p

Another issue is how it would be used. It's human nature to complain more than praise. I would hate to have a "product review" section turn into nothing more than a "product bashing" area. However, we have a good group here and I'm pretty confident that members would take the time to give pros as well as cons. Still I would probably instigate some sort of rule that you couldn't just say, "this product sucks" without backing that up with legitimate reasons.

And the last issue is whether it would get used. I spent a lot of time custom coding the book review section. But only a handful of people gave reviews and not many use it based on the traffic numbers to those pages. (Ironically at the moment you can't add reviews so don't try :-X) I'm not complaining. I simply overestimated how useful that feature would be to people. I just wouldn't want to have the same thing happen with Product Reviews.

So if enough people would actually participate in a Product Review section I'll try to move it higher up on my priority list.

I agree with you but it may help people out. I bet there are 100 "is the twin stick a good idea" threads and more like it. I would say that the tech articles almost do that already. Chuck has a place where you can give reveiws of his products on his new site. I also don't know what I would do if there were no more questions asked about products though. I guess I don't care.
