Your doing better than I did. Keep it rolling east. Put on the smokey and the bandit music.

Meteor crater

One of our side trips today was to meteor crater, pretty awesome in the true sense of the word. Photo really gives no sense of the size, so think football stadium with 20 fields on the floor of the crater with room for seats on the side wall for 2,000,000 fans!!!

How's the Bronco?

Not to jinx it..... Hope I'm not sorry for this post.
At the start of each day I pop the hood and look around, both under and over. Then check the oil, seems like a pattern is developing, add 1/2 quart, give the radiator a little rub and whisper a little moto ju ju, drop the hood and fire it up. Down road we roll. After all the trouble last weekend I had lost a lot of faith that is starting to return, knock on wood.

Day 3: high desert plateau

Day 3: flagstaff Az. to Albuquerque New Mexico, 325 miles= 1,050 rolled, 1,422 to Townsend Tn.

I was tortured as a child, really. My desert rat, rock hound, heat loving parents thought nothing was better for young children than to haul them out to the desert to camp, often, all the time. I hated it, somewhat dented from the exposure. See, I'm a water person, put me on a boat a 1,000 miles from land and I'm happy, I feel safe. Any ocean sport, but put me in the desert and I know I'm going to die. Ok, I know all the Arizona Bronco folks are shaking their heads. But hold on, something funny has happened over the years, the desert has kind of grown on me. Limits are in place though, temp must be under 75 degrees, wild flowers in bloom, and all the rattlesnakes on good behavior. Well, today was another one of those days traversing the high desert plateau.
We experienced rain, sun, hail, lightning, and dozens of rainbows. But really the day was ruled by the Sky with clouds. Poetry in the sky written by the clouds, heard that in song and today I got it.
As for my parents, "....and the gifts they give, they are with us each day, always..."
Steve

Looks like a good time. stopping to see the cool stuff is a good way to travel. Were always trying to go point to point ASAP. having the time to see the sights is a good change of pace. Plus in a bronco its good to get out and walk around from time to time. I think thats why they put little gas tanks in them.

Keep up the progress and enjoy the journey. Going to the show will be fun and y'all will have a good time, but I'm sure the journey is what you will remember most.

I hope I get to meet you at the show!

We will be in Texas tonight, Saturday. Any chance of a coffee meet up when we pass thru Oklahoma on Sunday?

I wish I could, I live in the NW corner of the state and am trying to get a list of things done today and tomorrow before we take off for TN on Monday, or I'd definitely take you up on it!

Sounds good, you should be driving in a little wind right now I bet lol. Too bad it's not from the west to help with the mpgs! :)

Actually, it's been pushing for 300 miles and just became a head wind at the end of the day. We had been discussing it because the gas guage wasn't dropping as normal, curious to check the mileage when we fill up in the morning.

.. STEVE H I hope you got to eat at the Big Texan in Amarillo. MAY NOT BE THE BEST STEAK EVER BUT I'LL be the biggest.
... I GOT TO this post a little late but what rear gear does your Bronco have in it. I'd wondered what gear a guy would want to drive across the world .
