I'm reinstalling my stock rear tank. I glued the four rubber pads back on the upper tank mounts. When I dropped the tank, the long metal bottom strap didn't have rubber padding as the upper were equipped with. Should I put padding on the bottom metal strap? Thanks

I didn't ...I don't think you need to that strap holds everything tight...

From the factory there were little chunks of cloth on the two corners between the strap and the tank.
It looks like asbestos woven material, but it is most likely something else...

Thanks. I'll try to find some fabric to use-something that won't trap water between the strap and metal tank.

I pulled my stock tank with strap and it had nothing in between. I know it had never been pulled before. Something thin that won't trap moisture should be fine.
