T-shift indicator cover hitting/3 speed rebuild kit

Hi all. Two things:

1. I just tried to dry fit my T-shift indicator cover on my '73 Ranger. I have an early Ranger built in '72 so it came with the T-shift transfer case. When I put it on, without carpet, the underside of the cover hit the top gate part of the transfer case shifter which made the cover not sit flat on the floor by about 1/8". I guess my question is did they make different indicator covers for different years? My body mounts don't look that bad but is it possible they're worn and squished to the point that the transfer case is sitting higher in relation to the floor?

2. I'm looking to rebuild my RAT 3 speed. I see that it seems like the major vendors all have kits to rebuild them. The prices of these kits vary a decent amount. So my questions is are they all basically the same kit? Are they the same level quality and amount of components? Before I reached out to each individual vendor I figured I'd start here. Judging by pictures they all look to be similar.

Thank you!!

Some kits include both 1st gear synchro sizes. Some have the C spring and the 3 metal keys that get mashed up sometimes. Both times I rebuilt one, I didn't need to pull the intermediate shaft or needle bearings. Just replaced synchros and input and output bearings, and some of the various small parts. I don't recall any coming with the shift pills or springs.

Gotcha. I figured if I'm in there it's getting a full rebuild. It's really only the first/reverse synchro that's bad but I assume other stuff will be going soon. It was a plow truck in its past life so it makes sense that first and reverse were beat up. I'm just hoping the gears themselves aren't in bad shape.

Ok I've squared away the rebuild question.

Anyone ever have the the T shift cover indicator interfere with the shifter itself?

Do you have a body lift?
You said that the mounts might be sagged, but just how tall are they?
Anything over 3/4” is taller than stock.

By the way, sounds like your Bronco’s VIN has a P or a Q in it. Most likely a P from the sound of things.
Have you checked out member Viperwolf1’s thread titled “72/73 Owners Mind Your P’s and Q’s yet?
If not, you should. Some cool stuff and yours could be an interesting one, being an early Ranger and all.

No body lift, from the looks of it the truck is all stock in that regard. I'm just wondering if the bushings collapsed slightly which is making the body lower on the chassis. Which will put the transfer case higher to interfere with the cover indicator. Just my thoughts.

I know about the thread now lol, I went down a rabbit hole reading that whole thread chain lol. I messaged him my trucks info in case it adds to the confusion. And no, my truck is a Q VIN.

Ha ha! Yeah, it started off innocently enough. But it definitely blew up into a big thread.
Seems we have a lot of 72 and 73 Broncos hereabouts. And members in the forum that are willing to join in the conversation.
