Talk to me about front bump stops-reuse old, stock replacement, upgrade?

Hey folks,

My 44 is in pieces. My housing and hard parts are hot tanked and ready to go to the powder coater. I inspected the front bump stops. They are in tact but nasty. I would post a pic but why get greasy?? Just use your imagination...surface rust on the metal and covered in grease.

Since they are original, is it recommended that I put them in the partswasher and clean em up and maybe mask off the rubber and shoot a little paint on the metal?

Get stock replacements from one of the vendors? I noticed upgraded replacements? Worth it?

Also, one of them had a large metal washer, the other didn't. Were they both supposed to have it? Did the driveline shop maybe forget to give it to me?

Thanks in advance.

If your lifting it you wont need them. If not its a good idea to have them. Take them off before powder coating. yes both had washers. it's an easy item to replace when needed.

I see bump-stops as necessary and feel that if I'm not using them on occasion that I'm not using the suspension to it's fullest.

I've never seen a urethane bump-stop worth the price of admittance.
