Who's temp gauge stock or aftermarket is a liar? My (old)auto meter pro comp reads 10 degrees hotter than my (new) fitech sensor. They are mounted within 4 inches of each other, Auto meter is just behind thermostat Fitech is in front crossover.

I would put the Fitech in the intake. Tuning depends on accurate engine temp. I run my EFI temp sensor in the intake and I moved my analog autometer sender to the thermostat housing.

OK, that's where it should be. I doubt they will ever be dead on the same but should close. I've seen mine be different in both directions over the last couple years but not 10 degrees, 5 maybe.

I'm gonna trust the new sensor. And I think I need to but a 180 thermo in it because its running 167 degrees and Fitech info says it comes out of warm up at 170, If that matters I need to use a 180 because if I adj the fan to come on hotter its just gonna cool it back into warm up. I watched the fan drop coolant temp 30 degrees per the handheld once I got it wired correctly and coming on like its supposed to. Weather or not that 170 is adjustable Im not sure yet.

I not sure it would work correctly if I left the 160 in it and had it come on say 185 and off at 175....that's just seems easier to control with a 180

If it's like the Holley system it only enters "Learn" mode above a certain temperature, Holley it's 160.

Warm Idle Speed = This is the Target Idle RPM for when the engine temperature reaches 170 degrees Fahrenheit.

that's all it says about it, so Im guessing I need to put the 180 in to get it too 170 because fan is keeping it at 167

Then set fan on @185 and off at 180 just to keep it above 170?

Or leave the 160 in it and set fan to come on at 180 off at 175?

but that could cause an issue at hwy speeds I wouldn't have the luxury of the fan being off to keep it above 170

Google it - lots of threads on a 10 to 20 degree difference. Even after reading them I don't know which is right but there is a lot to read. Mine is 10+ degrees off also...
