Well I finally got some free time to work on it again today. I had put it off for work and I was waiting for some needed items to arrive to finish the job. I went to Blue71's for a visit last Saturday and on my way I stopped and picked up my 2K epoxy sealer and some other things. This week my panel bond and applicator gun arrived so now it is waiting for me to put in the hours. I started where I left off, the patch pice I made was ok and would have been fine but my anal retentive nature kicked in and I had to redo it. It is now welded in, all that is left is to clean up the welds and get it in epoxy then I can bond the door panel on for good... I still have to do my driver door which I may get to tomorrow after I do payroll...

Im glad I am keeping folks entertained... I just wish the work went half as fast as it does in my head when I day dream about my next move... At least it is at the point that every day there is less rot to work on and The Duck is getting more solid. It wont be long till it is in primer and I will move onto the chasis...

Today I made another trip to the paint shop and have brought home a sample mixing of my color. If all goes well tomorrow I will spray out a part for testing and see if I can be happy with what I have dreamt up. It is sure to be a one of a kind color, based on an EB stock color but with a modern twist.

Well, here is my color. I had it made, it is my take on classic color making it more modern. I am calling it boxwood green poly. I may play with the tinting a little more once I get it into the sunshine. It looks great as is but under fluorescent lights, they make it look a lot lighter than what it does in these pics in person. Please let me know what you guys think. It will be accented with argent gray grill, roof and special decor stripe.

You did hear a special decor stripe mentioned. If I do it, it will be painted on in argent and the top along with the grill will be argent as well. The paint should have a cool effect, at certain angles and light it looks completely silver, low light it looks boxwood... the more I look at it the more I like it. The camera does not do it justice as it keeps piicking up the silver metallic flake but what it looks like in person is different. I will try a video of it if the sun is out today, maybe it wont react to it like the camera does. I think a clear coat with the silver metallic on a license plate mey wreak havok with a stationary speed trap camera... just saying... LOL

Well some time put into the doors again, getting tired of seeing them sit part and not having the time to finish, well I am pushing full steam ahead today. So here was the better door now with all rot removed and a patch fitted, just waiting on ospho to dry then I can weld it in. Still have to fab the part of the rotten support as well.

Now the doors are done with metal repair. Tomorrow I will scrub with scotch brite and clean them and lay down some epoxy sealer, then its onto applying the panel bond and fastening the skins. They will be done tomorrow...

Epoxy is down, skins are next as soon as it sets up enough that I can handle the doors without getting coated in epoxy.

One down, one to go as soon as it sets up enough I can pull my clamps. This is the first time I have done a door skin as well as use panel bond adhesive. I will still run a weld bead at the hinge location as there is no flange there to use adhesive and I want to make sure it has the proper strength there since the factory also welded those areas.

Thanks Nick. It's a lot of work but worth it. I have a few welds to put on them tomorrow then I am hanging them back on the tub.
