Do you know what these photos represent bronco fans? That's right, all of the patches are done and the bed goes in permanently tomorrow! All I need to do in the AM is drill a few holes, spray some weld through primer then get busy. Big milestone for my project this weekend for sure!

Thanks! I was going to grind a little more on the welds to make them disappear but then remembered I am coating the underneath in bed liner so no need to take a chance at thinning the surrounding metal, just smooth them down and go with it. Another lesson I have already learned and somehow keep repeating every once in a while....

Been hard at it this AM. Driver side is fitted. Stopped to take a break and get some tea then to get the pass side fit and then the bed. It should be welded in by the end of the day.

Good day indeed! The floor is in and done. My dad got bored watching me work and he picked up the grinder. Never turn down or away anyone who offers to grind!

And its permanent. A great weekend with big accomplishments. The bed floor is in and done and now the pass side rear quarter. All that is left is the driver side rear quarter, some finish grinding, fabricate the Vintage Air evaporator unit mounts and the tub is finished. Hopefully that will all get accomplished this week if work does not get too hectic.

Thanks guys for all of the kind words. I am excited to get it done and painted then there will be a slow down as I go through the running gear piece by piece. I am hoping by this time next year to have the running gear installed, new motor, trans etc and the tub married to the frame again. If I can keep that schedule somewhat I should have it done before SC 2016 and all of the bugs worked out, the biggest factor will be money and how quickly I can save it up to get it done. I know the assembly of wiring and plumbing will take a while then it will probably be at the upholstery shop for a while as well. Thats going to be the one big ticket item that I can't spread out.

No pictures today but I did work on it. Im working on getting a part made and removing whats left of the original driver quarter. Waiting on weld nuts to arrive for the top mounting points, no more two wrench hard top removal on this rig... Will finish the metal removal and prep for the new sheet metal tomorrow. I am planning to have the tub finished by the weekend. With the holiday weekend approaching I am hoping to wrap up the metal work and get it ready for primer. Will be very nice to see it in primer very soon indeed!

Very impressive, sir!! I wish I had the confidence and skill that you do to work on my own like this. We too are trying to make the top removal and placement a bit easier and did something similar, welding in a 1/4" metal strip down each rail and then drilling and tapping the holes. Hopefully it will work.

How exciting to get it in primer! Can't wait to see the pics.

You know I thought about doing the same thing but by the time I priced the 1/4" plate, it was cheaper to buy the weld nuts through Fastenal. They should be here tomorrow. I will also need them since the replacement firewall piece has round holes instead of the square holes for the factory cages nuts I figure might as well do it right. I'm a bit anal retentive when it comes to doing things like that.... Thank you OCD!

I am hoping I get enough done this weekend to be able to put it in primer next week... which means I need to go order the epoxy primer toady. Thanks for the reminder!

Wow, nice job on the rear quarters. They came out awesome. Now I have to ask you this for probably the millionth time already but I honestly don't remember the answer. Are you cutting it or leaving it a Luber? ;D Either way gonna be a nice Bronco!

I have been back and forth with that same question but I finally decided that it is getting cut. I have already purchased the bronco design flares for it. I want a U14 to do and it won't get cut.

Great work. Keep up the pace. We might both get done about the same time.

I had a great evening... pointed my truck in a southerly direction and dropped some templates off at a fab shop to get a special part made out of aluminum then bounced over to Abingdon and picked up MountainRam and took him to see the hoarder. While we were there I grabbed my new door skins and then we chewed the fat till 9 something. A great night because now I have all of my metal needed to get the big push to primer weekend under way.
