The purple wire

Ok,
I have searched and found some info, but not sure yet, so here it goes.

I am going through and rewiring my 73 Bronco. Started at the taillights and working foward. While removing the harness that runs down the frame rail, I come across a two space female plug with a purple wire on both sides. It goes to the firewall and under the dash where I have yet to discover its ending.

Any ideas? Now, I have seen info on a purple with a white strip, but this wire is just purple, I even pulled back some of that fine Ford braided insulation to confirm, no white strip. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks and God Bless
Robert

And the unplugged connector is also a common find on Broncos. When the light on the dash comes on and the owner can't make it go back out no matter what they do, it gets un-plugged.
Dd the plug have a couple of retaining clips on it?
