The thermostat housing on the '66 six cylinder was leaking coolant. I decided to install a new thermostat while things were apart. I went to the auto parts store and picked up a thermostat but noticed there was no gasket.

I asked the guy behind the counter why no gasket. He said they don't come with gaskets...........My question to him was how could you change out the item and not need a gasket?

The manufacturer of the thermostat?...............Mr. Gasket

Some days I just want to put a 9 to my head

Nobody makes a gasket to keep those aftermarket housings from leaking.

Aint that the truth! I remember shaking my head at myself in 1993 or so throwing away my pretty aftermarket housing after 3 tries to seal. And throwing on a rusty old cast one I had found on a truck at the junkyard.
