We have all done something we regret doing to our Bronco. Whether it was when we were restoring it or while buying parts or accessories for it. Now is the time to admit your mistakes and regrets.

My mistakes are as follows:
1. Stocking up on parts in Winter then finding out in Summer that they don't fit or it was the wrong part.
2. Paying a ton of money for used parts when Tom's Bronco Parts had the parts new and for less money than what I had paid (I still have nightmares over this one)
3. Driving from one junk yard to another thinking I was going to find a early Bronco in the junkyard. I found none!
4. Installing small mirrors on my Bronco. What a mistake that was! They looked ridiculous. I ended up with the new Fj40 mirrors. They are awesome!
5. Buying a huge expensive aircleaner for my Bronco and then realizing it was too big.
5. Installing used door hinges to replace the used door hinges I had on my Bronco. Sound stupid doesn't it. I ended up with new Tom Bronco's removable door hinges. They were murder to put on but worth the time and effort.
6. Allowing my son to do the body work. What should have taken days to do took him weeks. I ended up getting off of my fat butt and doing it myself.
7. Painting the interior of my Bronco with POR-15 during winter. It peeled off within a couple of weeks. I did put heaters in my Bronco hoping to keep the interior warm enough for the POR-15 to bond correctly. That idea didn't work.

A few things I have been guilty of and will never (maybe) do again.

1) Throw away not one, but TWO 1966 T-post rebuildable drag links. (The second one I chucked was actually NOS. Feel free to kick my ass fellow '66 owners.)
2) Conduct more tear down than can be repaired/rebuilt in a day. I have this bad habit of starting off removing one bolt and winding up with a pile of parts later. I do NOT have the time to do a complete tear down so why do I always rip half the truck apart?
3) Drive away from the house after a day of repairs without first checking to make sure: a) all tools are out of, off of, away from the truck; b) all parts removed have been reinstalled, replaced, or repaired; c) all wiring has been hooked back up. I don't know how many times I've found myself a block away, calling the wife (if I was smart enough to leave with my phone), and getting tools delivered or a tow back home.

# 1 is a biggy. Had ARB's, gears, and axles installed during the build. A year and a half later I finally had it on the road. Hope everything was installed correctly by the shop I used since everything was out of warranty before I even took it off the jackstands. OH yea, should include all the money spent on 4 wheel disks. All those parts were out of warranty also.

When I first bought it 17 years ago (I was 19 at the time) I patched some holes with fiberglass then decided I would install carpet using indoor/outdoor stuff with a carpet pad and spray on glue. Took me days with a wire wheel to get that crap out.

1. Bit off more than I can chew.
2. "I can do that in a day easy" ;D
3. "How hard can that possibly be?"
4. "Ill get that done in a day tops"

Basically underestimating just about everything I have done to the EB.

That's the reason I haven't had my c4 rebuilt yet. Not sure when I will get it in. Got to rebuild the column too.

Take it all apart for a MILD upgrade and 2 YEARS later it finally runs again. I could have been driving it for those 2 years saving up the money and parts to do what I did................
But absence makes the heart grow fonder........especially having to buy those pieces that you have either sold......
or LOST over those 2 years......
Plus if you are getting bored with what you've got why trade? Just park it for 2 years when you turn the key next time it will seem like a new truck again!;D

Believe me, now I know!;)

Things I will not do again and recommend others don't as well:

1. Drive your Bronco for the first time AFTER you buy it
2. Buy a Bronco, drive it once around the block and scare the hell out of your girlfriend, and then tear it apart for a couple years while just trying to get it road worthy.

I took mine to get it painted a few years ago and I had backed it out of his shop and drove it to get exaust and drove it back to the paint shop so he could finish on detailing it and the a$$ hole cut the brake line so he could fix it and charge me for it. But he didn't get to fix or charge for it. I fixed it in his driveway. It won't go back to that shop!

I will never put on a new fiberglass hood, decide to take a quick test drive before mounting the hood pins, and think a single bungee cord would hold the new hood down. It held until about 40-50 mph. Not sure what was worse--looking at the damage to the hood, or staring at a close up of the damage to the hood scoop doing 50 mph on a highway, blind.

I once commissioned a race care fab shop to custom build me a roll cage. I dropped the truck off, explained what I needed to the owner. I left feeling really good about the whole project. A month later he finally starts working on it. 2 months after the initial discussion he tells me it's ready to be picked up for $700. He totally didn't remember what I wanted and built what he thought would be best for me. Long story short, I ended up cutting out the cage and scrapping it along with my $700.

I have learned that you can never over communicate when you're working with a vendor that's doing custom work for you.

I will never leave my hood on the prop & walk away to get a tool on a windy day. Stock hood suffered major damage slamming up in to the windshield frame, forced my hand in selling it to get another.
