Hey guys, can anyone tell me what the thread size is for a 76 bronco 4x4 shift knob? I'm looking at a custom knob with 3/8″ X 16 mounting threads. Will this fit?

Thanks!

I’m sure somebody will confirm definitively before I can check, but that sounds correct.

Quickest, sure fire method is take a nut of the size your knob is and thread it onto the shifter

Thanks, fingers-crossed it's correct.

Thanks nick. I didn't want to purchase the knob, unless I knew it was correct. Good idea though, maybe I'll get motivated to 3D print a test piece with the corresponding threads for the knob in question, then try a test fit that way.

I’m a machinist by trade, and that 3D printing stuff is amazing to me. How long would it take to make a knob like that?

Depending on the quality, a high resolution 2" knob like that would take over 6 hours. A low res version, which is what I would have printed to test the threads for my knob, takes a little over an hour.

I will say that 3D printers are awesome, especially if you love engineering and mechanics...which obviously you do. So do I.

EDIT: Print times also vary between types of 3D printers. The times quoted above is for a FDM type printer. I just picked up an SLA printer which will print 5 times faster and almost as good as injection molding!

WOW! That is almost unbelievable! I would be hard pressed to duplicate that in that amount of time out of any material. Thanks for the insight!
