Time to adjust the clutch - how to do it?

I got a new clutch installed last winter and it seems to need adjusting (sometimes grinds going into first, a little bit more of the bucking bronco effect in first and reverse, especially when warm). Should I do this myself or take it back to the shop that did the original install so that they can check things out? And how would you adjust a clutch yourself if so inclined?

Thanks

Jon

If your clutch pedal has approx. 1" to 1.5" freeplay your clutch is probably adjusted right. This is adjusted with the rod at the clutch bellcrank - clutch fork.Other possibilities for the problem you describe are engine oil contamination on the clutch from the rear main seal and flywheel surface not being flat (you should always mill your flywheel when the clutch is replaced).Even though your clutch is fairly new a defective pressure plate - disc is not out of the question.Check your free play and go from there.

I have the same buckin bronco effect when in reverse and sometimes a quick grind going into 3rd. Did you solve your issue and what was the fix? I need a clutch tuneup or some advice???

I haven't fixed mine yet - I have been told that the buckin bronco effect in reverse is just part of the deal with owning a bronco. My clutch is still under warranty so I plan on taking back to the shop that did the install to have them adjust the clutch and just check things out. When my clutch went out the first gears I lost was first, then second. You just may need to adjust things.
