Tire and Wheel Question

I have a 1977 EB that is in the restoration/modifiction procress. I am interested in buying 18x9 DC-1 by Dick Cepek. The tire I would like to use is a 35" Mickey Thomson Baja ATZ Radial SLT.

The guy at Dick Cepek said I would need a 5" lift to accomodate the 35" tires. I feel like i have seen many early bronco's with 2.5" - 3" lifts with 35" tires. Note: I have put on a new fiberglass body with flares built in.

Anyone have any advice or excperiance with a similar situation?

In most cases a 3.5 lift is all you need to run 35 inch tires
Some people have also made 35's with only a 2.5 inch lift, but that cutting it real close

I would go with a 3.5 inch lift, and if you need a little more down the road throw a 1 inch body lift in later on

If you get the SLT's don't go wider than 13.5
I would rather see you find some wheels/tires 12.5 wide, and they will fit in the wheel wells a lot better

The problem with most 18, and also 17 inch wheels most of them don't have the perfect backspacing for a Bronco. If you can find something with a max backspacing of 4 inches you should be fine, when they get to be around 4.5 to me thats tucked in to far

3.5" lift, cut with flares is perfect. 5.5 is too much lift in my opinion unless you were running un-flared/un-cut.
Mine is 3.5" suspension with a 1" body lift and I have a ton of space above the tires. My build thread is "Project Lethal White". You can see what it looks like.

I have 35X12.5 BFGs on 17x10 rims.

When I was building mine I was told 5-1/2" suspension and 3" body to run 37's which turned out to be way too much lift for 37's. I ended up running 35's w/ 3-1/2" suspension and 2" body lift w/ cutout flares. and it looks like I have a ton of room up in the wheelwells. I have yet to actually get mine on a trail but I believe that 3-1/2" lift w/ cutout fenders and flares would be enough.

I have 35's with 3 1/2" SL plus 1" BL. Works well but I did have to trim the fenders a lot.

take a look at my galery. Do you think I could fit 35's with current lift (think it's a 3.5 w/33" tires)

I have a 5.5 inch lift and 35's with fenders that are waaaaaayyy cut out, and I plan on tossing on 37's or 38's with no body lift, 3.5 is perfect for 35's plus it can be a bit of a pain to get in and out of my sky high rig

35's

Pic is my 67 with a 3 1/2" lift with 33's. I wish I had gone with the 35's as it would have filled in the wheel wells better. This is a daily driver 90% street truck though. If I was offroading more I would need a little body lift with the 35's.

5.5 lift, no body lift, 35s imagine some flares, I like to wheel it
I don't know if a 3.5 will let you wheel hard without at least 2" bl
