Group,

This is new to me. I have had the wheels and tires now for over a year and just noticed on the back of the rim that it states max tire size is 33x12.5x15. Of course I have 35x12.5x15 on them. The place that mounted and balanced the tires didn't notify me of this when they were mounting them. I don't have a photo of the notice right off hand. The rims I used were from Summit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/UWC-208-5185P Load limit on them says 2200lb. Am I safe to use or should I get rid of them and or downgrade tires? Is the manufacturer just covering their butt? Really upset about this.

How would the wheel know how tall the tire is? As long as the width is OK for the wheel and you don't go over it's weight capacity the tire height should make no difference.I would think you would be fine. Also I have seen the load rating marked on wheels before but never tire size, ?:?

It does seem un-nerving to see max 33” and be running 35”. Must be too many attorneys in the wheel business. Apologies to attorneys. But I see an awful lot of 35” tires on 15” rims from 7.5 to - 10” wide. I plan 35” on my 15x10, just exercise caution with any high profile vehicle, optimum tire pressure to keep tread flat on the ground.

Ya thats odd, there is a wheel width spec depending on tire width but never seen a diameter limit, I would not worry about it.

The rim does know how big of a tire is on it, sort of anyway. The taller the tire, the greater the leverage. Not just front to back but side to side as well.

Now does it matter? 33 to 35 on a Bronco, probably not. If you had a loaded up half ton truck pushing the weight limit of the wheels, closer but still probably not. Run a set of 40s, probably worry.

Probably sometime in the past someone put a huge tire on, wheel broke, lawyers and engineers paniced, came up with some numbers they felt were safe, with the typical engineering safety factor, and said that was good.

Ignore it, run what you have.
