I have a '74 uncut Bronco with a 3" lift that I am restoring currently. I have 33" from ground to rear wheel well fender and 36" on the front. What size tires and rims would be optimal to fill up the space as much as possible but still not rub on turns and throw as little mud and road debris on the body as possible?

3.5 with a 2'' body lift. 33'' tire with a 4'' backspacing on a 7'' wheel. Just tucks inside the rear qt.

I just installed a TBP 3.5" stage 8 kit and I clear 31x10.50/15 with no rubbing at all.

My 69 (Gobi) Bronco has the TBP 3 1/2" with 265/70/17s on a 17x8" wheel with 4.5" Backspacing. Great fit.

The Yellow 69 in my Garage has a 3 1/2" Lift with 15x8 US Mags and 31x10.50s. These did not rub either and filled the wheel wells pretty good.

rguest3, That yellow half cab was sweet!

Here's 33/10.5/15' on factory wheels with 2.5"SL, 1" BL, and axle moved back 1". Zero rubbing, but definitely "stuffed" looking:

265/75/16s(32x10.50) on mine with a 3" lift. They rub on the radius arms which will be swapped out one of these days. Also pushed the axle back 1" and rolled the rear fender lips. Picture is before pushing the axle back, 2nd picture is but no interior or gas tanks

Also, metric tires (like the 265/75 that Jefe mentioned), are almost always "rounded up" when compared to standard tires.

A 265/75/16 would actually only be 31.65 x 10.43, if it were entirely accurate. The BFG KO2 in that size, for example, is actually only 30.89" tall and 10.15" wide, "when inflated as instructed". Of course, there is no readily available definition of the last part of the statement.

So, my point is this:
There are some "known safe" combinations and there are some "it might work" combinations. Then, there are some "I can make it work" combinations and some "this ain't gonna work" combinations. YOU need to be honest with yourself and know which of these combinations you are capable of living with.

For reference, the US Mag Indy, in 15x8, usually has a 4" backspace and -12 offset. Depending upon the tire, in a 10.50, they would likely clear if the diff is centered. If the tire has an aggressive shoulder lug, you would likely need to roll or modify.

BFG makes a 35x10.50r 15 although it's a "race" tire, I use them on my bronco in 12.50 width and they are very nice on the street. That's the tallest thinnest tore out there to my knowledge. With a narrow wheel they should clear. My friend had 33x9.50r15 with no lift and no trimming and when everywhere with that thing. The 35s are BFG Baja line of tire for class10 off-road race cars.
