I'm starting to work on my '66 more regularly now. I've just finished installing a 2 inch body lift for my engine/trans setup and a 2.5" suspension lift. Now I've hit a problem. I'm can't decide either way wether to cut the quarters of leave it a LUBR.

On one hand, I love the look of a lifted bronco with flares and big tires; but on the other, these are the factory original quarters, not a re-uncut. I would just leave it uncut if I was just going to drive it on the road, but I do plan to go offroading with this thing from time to time.

I've got pros and cons for each, maybe y'all can give me some insight. Since the projects still a ways from being done, I'm not dead set on tires size yet; but I'd like to get an idea of where this build is going.

What do y'all think?

Ultimately your decision alone to make...
only uncut once and so many out there that that have already been modified. if you want a cut one, then buy one already done .
just my $.02

If I had the money to do it that way, I would have. I hauled this one out of a barn for like $100 and couldn't say no to that. Now I just have to figure out if I'm taking another uncut out of the world or leaving it.

Lots of people cut them and later wish that had not done it. I have never heard anybody say “I wish had cut it”.

Mine's cut, but if it was uncut original I'd probably just build it that best I could without cutting. I've seen a couple very capable uncut Broncos. You can move the axle back and run a skinner tire so it wont rub.... If you plan on wheeling it hard, maybe trade someone on here for a nice cut rig

Very capable serious off road rigs out there with uncut fenders. Just a little harder to make it so.

True, but then with 4.5" of total lift, wouldn't stability start to become an issue?

I don't think it makes a huge difference in stability. I have a cut 4.5” suspension lift and a 1” body lift she has great road manners.

There is also a member here with an uncut that has a 3.5” sl and 1”bl with a 4link and it is pretty awesome. He is in VA. I will dig for his information.

In my opinion... one of the iconic body feature on the Bronco is the lower rear quarters. All Bronco have a great look but a lifted uncut has the look and the stance.;)

I cut my 66 because it had bad metal, then replaced it with good, uncut metal ;D

I vote for uncut but it is your rig and your decision. I have seen the one jmhend is talking about in person and watched a few videos of it crawling, its amazing. He has a duffs 4 link on it it's a 2 tone burgandy in color.

If you want to beat it up offroading, don't. Get an old jeep. They are everywhere. Clean uncut Broncos are much harder to find.

When we bought our 2 Broncos, I would not even consider one that had been cut, period. Obviously I voted to not cut.

I guess I'm gonna be the devils advocate. personally I don't like the look of the uncut rear quarters. I think the cut with flares is the way they should have been made. Big Oly was always the coolest looking vehicle ever. and is the reason I have loved broncos since I was a kid. I bought a brand new body, it was uncut, fresh sheetmetal and I cut it to make it what I wanted. if you are going to be making a restoration back to original then by all means keep it uncut, if you are going to be modifying it, make it what you want it to be. for me that means cut with flares.
