Looking for a little help on a swap. My father-in-law has a 1979 f250 with a 400 in it. It has the 4spd (NP435?) and probably an NP205. they are getting swapped into a 67 with a factory 302 replacing the 3spd and D20.

What issues can he expect? Will it bolt to the 302 bell housing? What about clutches & driveshafts?

Thanks for the help!

Being a 79, it probably has a 435. Aluminum top cover? The 4 speed will bolt to the bronco bellhousing. Bronco clutch works. Normally with the 435 and D20, stock driveshafts will work, but with the extra meat of the 205 and the different yoke size (IIRC) will require some driveshaft work.

You will need the 302 bellhousing. That will bolt the the 4 speed.
The driveshafts will need modification. You will also need to build a new crossmember. The speedo cable should work.

Good deal! Thanks guys, those are the issues we were anticipating! Glad to hear it's a fairly smooth swap.

If you think of something else, please post up. This swap happens this weekend (11/3). Thanks!
