I'm getting close to finishing this long Bronco project. I would like a few pictures of where you automatic guys have mounted your transmission coolers. I never had a vehicle I couldn't mount in the grill in front of radiator. Bronco grill is too small with hood latch in there.

Jeepster - that would work on mine if my inlet and outlet where on the bottom like yours but my nipples are on the end and that is what is making it tough. I have two coolers and I don't want to spend money on another one or should I say different one.

Keep the pics coming, I'll see something that will work. :)

I managed to get one mounted in the front
of the radiator. it is rated at 19kgvw it is
17x8x1 it was tight, but it fit. offset more
towards the bottom to get room for the latch.

Here's what I ended up with, it's in series with the radiator. The space in there is tight! In many cases it is much easier to install tranny coolers on EBs behind the grille with the radiator removed. This is the stacked plate design made by Long Mfg. These types of coolers are usually more efficient at dissipating heat than "tube and fin" designs that are twice the size. This one flows from bottom to top so as to burp out all the air bubbles. Good luck, you got a fun job ahead of you ;)

here's another shot. Mounting it here just barely clears the hood safety latch but it is still protected and gets plenty of air flow.

Since I pretty much have nothing as far as a heater crap in my truck, I stuck it on the tranny tunnel right up under the dash. Running Black braided hose so no worries about cut lines when coming thru the floor, be using grommets anyways. Also makes it nice not to have anything on front of my rad and with the tranny cooler inside during muddy runs. Keeps my tranny cooler working as efficient as possible not being clogged up with mud.

Mounted mine under the bed between the frame rails. Very out of the way. Gets lots of cooler air. Doesn't restrict any airflow to my radiator. Plumbing and mounting were a bear but well worth it!

You can check out my install in the "New Photo Gallery". Not at home, so I can't post a pic. Works great, even in 100+ degree temps and high humidity of Mississippi. Thermo coupler opens at 180, and I have checked the return line temps after a day of summer running, and it stays right at 180 - 190 degrees.

I think this is krushers setup. Let me know if I flubed up krusher and I'll fix it. ~bh

Wouldn't a set-up like that be pulling hot engine bay air through the cooler. I wouldn't think it would cool nearly as efficiently mounted in there. Also, where would all the hot air go after being pulled through the cooler? Wouldn't that just add to under hood temps?

stay cleaner there. it will stay cooler nevertheless. it will also be less prone to trail/roack/mudd damage. That is where I put mine also.
