Hi guys, hey when going from a manual NV3550 to a automatic from a explorer, does the trans have to be from a 5.0? I found plenty of 4.0 stuff but nothing 5.0 also, plenty of trannys behind 4.6 mod motors and f250 stuff but no 5.0 ugh.
Neither the 4.0 or the 4.6 will bolt up. Different bell housings.
Now when looking at the 4.2 V6 in the 96 and up F150's.......I know the 4.2L V6 was the only engine to keep the SBF bolt pattern in the 5 speed manual. I would guess the automatic is also SBF but I know nothing about that trans at all.
I just remembered,in 99 i leased a 99 f150 with a 4.2 V6 auto 4X4. At the time it fit the bill,good on gas,decent power, as long as you weren't hauling anything hahaha.
How soon are you wanting a transmission? I have a Mercury Mountaineer that I bought for the 5.0L and rear axle. It has an automatic transmission. I won’t get in my shop u til after harvest. I am not too far from you.
