My transfer case is shifting to neutral while driving at highway speeds. Took it to a shop and they just shrugged their shoulders. Any thoughts?

JB Fab sells adj shifter detents. Rebuild it, twin stick, and shifter detents.
-If your gonna pull it out you might as well rebuild it.

Is your TC shifter contacting the floor boards - not allowing the TC to go " all the way " into gear and then bumping against the shifter throwing it out of gear ?
Is this a T Shift or J shift TC ? If its a T shift and you still have cover and gear indicator try adjusting that for more travel to the rear.

I was having that problem on my j shift dana 20.At the time I did not want to pull the transfer case, so I cut a access spot on the transmission tunnel just big enough to access the detent springe and balls, then made a metal access panel if I ever need to get back in.

Lil Buck. Have you put a body lift on this at any time? If so, like previously mentioned it is common for the tunnel floor to not allow the shifter to move far enough. Usually this is a high range 4wd issue but we don't know if you venture off road...

Try all the detent fixes described first, then you need to go internal. Shift forks sometimes wear a lot not allowing complete engagement of the gears (since the shifter won't move the gear far enough). Also, extreme thrust washer wear will keep full gear engagement from happening.

Hope the adj detent from Jon at JBCustom Fab fixes it or stacking a few small washers as spacers to increase the spring pressure is a simple fix for you.

Good luck

check the transfercase output yolk. pull the drive shaft and see if the yolk is wiggly if it is reshim or repair it. then check the drive shaft very carefully while it is out. make sure the centering ball is good the joints lubed and tight and maybe balance it if you have a local shop to check it. check the tranny mounts while your under there.
