Can you test the resistance across the pins on the remote plug?

Can you jump across the solenoids to see if they click?

I picked up a used Warn 9000i for a sweet deal because it didn't work. I narrowed it down to a faulty remote. New remote and it works well.

How old is the winch, and how long has it sat in the open on the front of the truck? Is it garaged, or an outdoor dog?
Definitely check the remote as .94 said. They do go bad and it's an easy fix if so.
But the relays freeze up over time as well. Warn uses pretty good ones from the factory, but even though will freeze up if not used now and then.

Part of the yearly maintenance of your Bronco should be to spool the winch in and out a little bit every so often. It's often forgotten while sitting there up front, only thought of when we need them. Unfortunately that's usually when we find out they don't work!

If the remote checks out, there might be a trouble-shooting guide online somewhere? Warn may have a diagram or ten showing what does what and how to test.

Good luck.

We had a HS9500 on the Mare for a while them moved it to the open trailer. 15+ years in the weather at this point. We do use it once or twice a year and it's still kicking wire rope and all. Solid connections are a must. They are sealed pretty good I would be surprised if you can't get it going.

I put hot and negative on all solenoids. They all clicked and the ohms over the large leads was zero so good contact. I called warn. My idea was right. The remote doesn’t match. Needs 5 conductor remote with grounds not 3 conductor without grounds like I have. Looking forward to checking with updated remote. I’ll update later when I get it.
