I have a 76 Bronco. 1.5" suspension lift and 33" tires. It's mainly used in town with some occasional trails. I've replaced all the steering linkage at this point and want to get the slop out of the steering.

It looks like I have the original '76 4 Turn PS box and a SAGINAW pump. Trying to decide if I have the existing Steering Box rebuilt / buy new as well as if I replace the lower steering shaft with something like below or just replace the rag joint.

Thank you.

Yes. all replaced.

A very common problem that is frequently overlooked is the hole in the upper mount for the track bar. It is common for this hole to become elongated so even if you install new bushings it still has slop.

But, I suspect you are also correct to be looking at rag joint and the steering box.

I would highly recommend AGR Steerco for getting the box rebuilt.

West texas off road is another popular place to get the box dialed in. Had a friend move your steering wheel while you look for where the slop is. Usually pretty easy to see.
