VIN question

Ok... so the VIN on my title says U15NLD7674.

According to the body style of my rig and what it says on the title... it should be a 68.

When I plug that VIN into the VIN decoder it says that it's a 74...

Something sounds screwy here. Any ideas??:?

I concur. S60,001-V00,000 is for 1974. 68 VIN's are from C00,001 - D82,000
Sounds like the VIN decoder you are using has a problem.

so does that mean that the 'D' is for the 289 engine as opposed to the 302 or V6?

ERP... I was looking at the 72 chart... I see now...

I cannot find the vin anywhere on my vehicle. No plate...I checked the frame rails from one end to the other all around. Can't find a thing.

Some Broncos are just an assembly of parts from all over. Saw a '75 for sale once on a lot with a 30 front axle. Somebody had swapped out all the good stuff.

No the N stands for 298 engine. The D is part of the production number

Yours means its a 67 with a 289. check for a VIN tag on the drivers side kick panel its usually about 1/2 up the panel just a little below the dash.

here is the break down.
U15: Means its a wagon. Roadster was U13 and Half cab was U14

N: Means 289. F means 170(1966-1972) inline six or T for a 200(1973-74)....not v6 ;) G would be a 302(1969-1977)

L: Means it was built at the Michigan Truck Plant....just like every bronco

D7674: Production number
