VIN Stamp on Engine Block - 1976

Hello. I recently removed the engine from my '76 Bronco for a rebuild. I believe it is original (all date and casting codes support that). I know from my '68 Mustang, that the engine block was stamped (rear just under the intake manifold) with the vehicle VIN. My '76 Bronco block doesn't have any stampings. Does anyone know if Bronco engines of that year were stamped with the vehicle VIN? Or not? Thanks.

I have never seen one with a VIN number stamped on it anywhere.

Thank you for the response. I suspected that was the case.

Not a Bronco engine.
Even most Mustang engines are not stamped, only special (high value when new) got stamped. Was it something special like a Boss 302?

The only vin I've seen stamped was on a 65 mustang k code convertable ,on the right front side of block just above the oil pan rail,,,

Ford only stamped vin #s on performance engines. The CJs/Boss engines of any displacement and even 428 PIs got them. The run of the mill engines didn't.

It is a J-Code (first year of the 302 and same engine that went into the GT350 Shelby). That might be why it got the stamp. I always thought it was a lot of effort to do that so not surprised that it wasn't used across the line. Thanks all.

I also noticed that in the case of performance engines with vin #s stamped in the back side of the block, that the C6 transmissions had the vin #s on the top of the bell housing.
