Hi, if I went back in time and ordered a Warn winch and bumper with my new Bronco in the 60's, what color would the bumper be? Black? Argent? I've seen some chrome ones too, but were the painted ones a certain color? Thanks
Ford used this photo for a few years and photochopped it up a bit,
but this is one of my favorites, showing a body color top and a chrome
winch bumper in the factory literature. Cool stuff.
My favorite thing about that ad is the way the wipers are parked. Thanks for the responses. Still swaying between Black and Argent for mine. I’m not a fan of black with the body color I’m going with, so I might fudge it, not sure
Yes. Warn products were Satin Black.
I have some NOS Warn bumpers that has the black finish. Belleview Winch Co. was the original inventor of the winch that we now know as the '8274'. Belleview wouldn't sell the patent to Warn, but Warn liked the design so much that they just bought out Belleview. Belleview also had winch bumpers that were much like the later Warn bumper, and it seems that they were possibly some of them painted silver.
The Koenig PTO winch and bumper were all originally painted silver. Matter of fact, every single component of the winch system was painted silver even down to the shifter handle and the bearing block brackets for the driveline!
I'm with you, sometimes a black painted bumper just doesn't do the Bronco justice!
My truck looong time ago was completely painted OD green... flares, bumpers, wheels, top, tow bar, belleview, etc it looked ready for combat
