If your a junkyard junkie looking for power door locks, grab the power door locks out of the taurus, while your grabbing the fan :). You want the ones from the rear doors. when removing them cut the wires then use a flathead screwdriver to bend the platic mounting tab off it and itll pop right off. then bend the metal shaft and wiggle it outta the whole. on our broncos they have an extra hole on the key operated side of the locking mechanism that works perfectly. I just siliconed mine to the door skin at the bottom and bent the metal shaft to make it line up with the hole. Its fits in there perfectly and clears the window. I had an alarm system that had power door lock controllers so thats what i used. It looks like you could use the power door lock upgrade kit from bc broncos to control them too. Its a fair amount of work but for me it was worth it. if anyone wants pictures pm me your email!

what do you mean siliconed them? So they are only attached with silicone?

It's hard to describe without pics but ill try, i used some welding wire on my first one (because i didnt have time for the silicone to dry) and fashioned it in a way that it would hold it down against the bottom of the door and that worked fine(strong enough to keep mechanism from moving). On the passeger side i used silicone because i had more time and i sanded the inside door skin and basically used about a half tube of rtv to glue it to the bottom and side of door. So yeah mine are held on just by silicone :) I'm sure if you could get the mounts off the taurus you could somehow get those to work too, but the mickey moused way i did it is workin for now. Honestly the welding wire method seems pretty sturdy. Ill hafta take some pictures and send them to a contributer to post up here to help me explain.

Personally, I'm ok with the silicone method, if it keps on holding.
Not only does it work well as a glue, but it isolates it from direct contact with the door metal too. Quieter, longer lasting and won't rust.
Well, since it's plastic, it's not going to rust anyway, but it all works for me!

You oughta see all the things the boat makers glue together with slicone sealer. I tried getting a transom step off a fairly new boat one time with a friend. Took both of us standing on the thing, AFTER cutting as deeply in to the goop as we dared, to get the thing to finally peel off.

Sure, there are better ways inside the door, but the best way is the one that works.
Good luck, and thanks for the research.

Paul

Update:
Door locks still holding
I daily drive it and i use them at least 4 times a day and its been about 4 months. I have had a lot of washboard driving with em on there so I would say they are there to stay.

On Frank's, I used a 1/4-20x1/2" bolt & nylock nut to attach the lock motor's bracket to the door, right beside the lower window track bolt. The buttons came from the same '88 F150 as the engine, trans, column, window regulators...

It's just a piece of steel stud (to make the top lip), 2 layers of 1/4" MDF, 1/8" of upholstery batting, a layer of the finest Naugahyde money can buy, and a few JY parts. The felt & chrome are from the same '88 F150XLT; the pull handle might be from an Expedition, and the latch handle might be from a Maverick.

Thanks steve83 defiantly got the gears turning for a set of new door panels.. Although if mine ever looked like that I would feel pretty guilty if i messed them up :)

Just curious how come you used two layers of 1/4" mdf?

One layer to build up around the original raised ridge (around the original panel), and another to glue the first layer to so there are no holes for the upholstery to sink into. You have to recess the fasteners for the trim, and the fasteners on the door, but you don't want soft spots that will stretch & tear, so another layer is necessary. Have you looked thru that whole album?
