Hey everyone, what’s everyone running for cables or ropes on warn winches? I need to replace an old cable, and the synthetic rope is new to me, how much can a 9000 hold? Any insight would be appreciated

Brand new, my XD9000i held 125ft of 5/16 cable. It can hold the same amount of synthetic cable.

I chose to only run 90ft of synthetic because with the 125ft cable, I was always winching on the 3rd or 4th layer of cable and that really reduces the winch's pulling force. With 90ft, was winching on the 1st-3rd layer. For longer pulls, I used a 50ft synthetic extension.

Just what Digger said. On my 8274 I used to have the factory 150ft cable. When I went synthetic I went to 90' and carry 2-30ft extensions in my recovery bag.

Yep I only run 80' on mine as well, you never pull straight, its always at an angle and often the pulls are short, like the vehicle in front of you or a tree or rock that is handy. only 1 time have I needed an extension, even in places with no trees. Except the one time I got buried in the dunes, alone and broke with front wheel drive only..... I would have needed a semi truck load of extensions to reach anything, wound up burying my spare tire (fortunately I did have a long handle shovel) was a lot of work but it worked.
