WH add on rollbars

Good Afternoon All-

I am looking forward to taking the wife and kid to the beach this next summer when I get back to the states, but I am not comfortable putting my daughter in the back bench without a full cage. I am looking at adding the front and rear San Felipe roll bars to my existing WH San Felipe Bar.

Does anyone have any pics of these installed? There are a few on the WH website, but kinda restricting on showing the full view.

I don't like the idea of having to grind off the powder-coat on my existing bars to weld these on, but Ill take the safety of the full cage over the look of rattle-can black and powder-coat. I wont be able to afford getting the whole thing re powder-coated.

Any other input on these add-ons?

Thanks!

I do not have the front section, just the back. Here are a few pictures. I built a little wood stand to help put the back of the roll bar on. The wood stand really helped. Not sure I could have done it without it.

I was in the same boat, ordered the rear portion, but the front was way expensive, because of shipping. Luckily I found a local one on Craig’s list. I just scuffed the powdercoat up and used that Roll bar and Chassis rattle can paint, work really well and cant tell its not factory.

I thought I had some pictures of mine that I added to the back last year, but I dont. I'll try to remember to take some shots of mine this afternoon and add them. At some point I want to add on the front part. Also, after I grounded the OEM bar to attach the new one I just rattle canned the whole thing with the Rustolem hammered paint. I think I used 3 cans on the whole thing, I wanted it nice and thick. Turned out great I think.

Don't worry about losing the powdercoat, it isn't a big deal. The cage doesn't get enough abuse that powder is that much better than rattle can.

I started with the single bar, added the family cage, and within the next few weeks will be adding the front bars. The San Felipe full cage isn't the greatest look or best safety cage IMO, but you can't beat the convenience of modular add on.

Oh for pics just use google image search. I found a bunch that way that helped convince me to order the addons.

Had the San Felipe then added the WH front and back. The center bars were not part of the WH add on, I bought some tube and added. Here's a few pics

This is what I will be doing this month hopefully. Like you, I have the single hoop and will be adding both. Not a bad price but the shipping makes it more. I am just trying to figure out if I want to get the back first or the front. Right now no one really rides in it with me and I mainly just drive to and from work with occasionally running down the street for something.

roll bar add on WH

Here are a couple pics of my front add on rollbar. In addition to safety it also gives you a great place to put handles and a way to stabilize your windshield. I plan on adding the rear kit in the future.

WSM29 - Something else to think about, I had to modify glove box to get it open all the way and had to modified E-brake peddle to get to it easier.

Yeah that's the bad thing. They are only $159 but add the shipping and it's over $200.

I just don't know of any local fab guys that would be able to fab something like this up... Even then, I'm not sure on what their cost would be and if the fit would be right.

These just look really convenient and a few welds later and your done.

Do you have any of the BC Broncos Kick Panel Speakers, or simpler? Would this rollbar clear them if you did? I am reading you need to modify the Ebrake for speaker pods, I would imagine this movement would satisfy the rollbars too?

Thanks

I don't have the kick panel speakers so I'm not sure. But I did a real easy fix for the E-brake, maybe something similar higher up on the arm to get it away from the panel.
Look at the pic I posted w/ my granddaughter and you can see how the bar on the passenger side is not into the kick panel to much.

Also moved the top mounting screw over about a inch cause the release handle wouldn't pull far enough to release the brake. a few more pics

Awesome pics! That clears up a lot of my questions. What was the fix for the glovebox?

Glove box fix wasn't that bad but took a little more work. There is a thread on here some were that shows a few dif ways others have done it that might be easier than what I did. Cut the glove box over to the speaker and turned it over and put it on the right side then filled everything in and remounted the door

Good article in tech threads about moving glove box door. Make it pivot instead of dropping down.
