WH Super 9 Housing for stock springs?

So my 9" cracked and was welded for repair, but still leaks. '75 Bronco.

I want to buy WH's '76/'77 stronger 9" rear housing:

The issue I have is the spring perches are welded with 6 degree angle so you don't need shims for 2.5-5.5" lift suspension leaf packs. My truck has WH's stock height 10 pack and don't intend to change that out anytime soon.

Will I get vibration using the angle the spring perches are welded now?

Can I purchase the shims and put them in backwards to correct the angle?

Or, do I have to cut them off and weld to the stock angle?

You will get a vibration if you run that much angle at the pinion, assuming a stock double-cardan shaft configuration. You could run a 6 degree angle shim backwards to cancel out the rotation of the spring pad, but it will lift the rear slightly...on the up side, if you ever do lift it, it's good to go once you remove the shims.

Alternatively, you could probably request that they not weld the spring perches if you're willing to wait for it...they may be building them to order anyway, so it may not add anything to the delivery or cost and it certainly can't hurt to ask.

It's true. Can't hurt to ask.
I don't think we've done it before, and it rocks the boat. But sometimes it's good to rock the boat a bit now and then!

But yes, as Apogee confirmed you can simply put the #1188 shims in with the thick end forward and it will negate the angle.
The actual amount of lift you get should be less than 3/8" I would think. More like 1/4" which really is not much.

You can certainly cut off the perches and re-weld them in the correct orientation. But when you look at the welds on those things you start to hate the idea of cutting them out!
Originally they were not even painted, but now do come in Black. I don't believe that it's powder coating though, so messing up the paint and then re-painting it with a rattle can should net some decent results.
Personally though, I'd use the shims. If even needed...;)
